Why Is Posting Journal Entries Required?

NolaPro requires a posting step for general ledger entries for a few reasons:

1) In some cases in the system, if a GL entry is not posted yet, and its originating source record is edited or deleted, the original GL entry will just be deleted instead of being backed out with a new GL entry.
2) The posting process will do a double check to make sure debits and credits match for each entry set before marking them as officially part of GL balances.
3) The posting step allows you to post entries to a different date than the original transaction date if need be. This will happen automatically for unposted entries that are in closed periods. The posting date will be changed from the original date to the next open period.
