Our hosted version is recommended as the easiest Mac solution.

However, the free Linux version can work on a Mac but it involves a little more to set up. There are programs such as XAMPP that include the necessary PHP/MySQL/Apache installation. Other tweaks/extensions would also be necessary to get it running.
